She sits on the bench,
smelling the air.
With a bonnet over her hair!
Resting whilst having a cup of tea,
before walking to the sea.
So she gathers her speed along the way,
stepping over the chains on the quay.
A flutter of nerves as she passes me,
making her way to the sea.
With a pasty for lunch she eats,
and now sits on the river seats!
Watching the world go by,
watching the boats sail past!
She walks to the sea in a pink dress,
the gulls pick at the mess!
In a jacket going past,
in the sunshine, while nets are cast!
So she goes on into the day,
she sits at the beach to stay!
Idles the time in the heat,
watch out for her on the seats!
