By the sea it is writ in sand,
where people play on the land!
Boats go past the pier,
and fishing nets take up their rears!
Gulls fly high spying food!
And people pray they don’t attack!
People sitting idly by,
whilst the cricket ball takes a whack!
Sandcastles pave the beach.
Where on the sand the tides reach.
Seaweed strews the bay,
where the people lay!
Shells top the castles one by one.
Until all the shells are gone!
Children swim in the sea,
until it is time for tea.
Out walking the dogs on leads,
with tops laced with beads!
We sit on the benches drinking coffee,
whilst the children munch on toffee.
Waves crash on the shore,
with stories of old folk lore!
The adults tell the tales of bygone days,
whilst in the sand the children play.
